Announcing the Scajaquada Creek Environmental Lab’s Collaboration with Cleveland Water Alliance and BN Waterkeeper
A Partnership to Foster Environmental Education and Stewardship
Hello students, parents, and community members,
We are thrilled to announce that starting next year, the Scajaquada Creek Environmental Lab will embark on an exciting collaborative journey with the Cleveland Water Alliance and their Lake Erie Volunteer Science Network (LEVSN).
About the LEVSN Project
The LEVSN is an initiative aimed at monitoring the water quality of Lake Erie and its connecting waterways. This research is critical for understanding the environmental challenges facing our freshwater resources. We are honored to have been selected to collaborate in this important work, with testing slated to begin in April.
What This Means for Our Students
Cleveland Water Alliance will loan us a state-of-the-art YSI water sensor, which will not only support their ongoing research but also provide our students with an invaluable, hands-on learning experience. Students will have the opportunity to participate in real-world scientific monitoring, data collection, and analysis, offering them an immersive experience in environmental science.
Partnership with BN Waterkeeper
We have more exciting news! BN Waterkeeper will generously donate an incubator and water testing supplies to our lab, with the equipment arriving by the end of this month. These resources will allow us to regularly sample the Scajaquada Creek for E. Coli levels this year. Monitoring E. Coli is crucial for ensuring the safety and well-being of the communities that surround the creek and rely on its waters.
How You Can Get Involved
We are always looking for volunteers, sponsors, and community involvement to support our initiatives. If you are interested in learning more or would like to contribute to the Scajaquada Creek Environmental Lab, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
This collaboration symbolizes a new chapter in our commitment to environmental education and stewardship. Our students will gain a unique educational experience, and we will be contributing to meaningful scientific research. We are grateful to the Cleveland Water Alliance and the BN Waterkeeper organization for their support and partnership.
Thank you all for your continued support of our educational endeavors, and we look forward to sharing updates on these exciting projects in the near future!
